Born and raised in Canada, Ryan brings a compelling sense of textured drama and emotion-laden imagery to various film directing and photographic editorial assignments. An award-winning graduate from the University of British Columbia Film Program, Ryan's mixed narrative and experimental documentary short films received accolades, including an Honorable Mention at the Montreal World Film Festival, and a selection by the National Film Board of Canada, to be shortlisted for the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. Ryan was commissioned by the Canadian Film and Television Producers Association to direct and shoot a documentary series in Cameroon, Africa, working alongside Jean-Pierre Bekolo, winner of the Prix Afrique en Creation at Cannes International Film Festival. In 2008 he signed on as cinematographer for the film "Journey of a Dream", a feature length documentary shot in India, New York, London, and Canada. Recent directorial clients include several videos for DACE, a celebrated Canadian fashion designer, as well as a music video for Jane Badler.
